Basing on experiences related to MatroX-Sales system development and impressive progress of wireless data transmission technology, ZST-Softel designed a mobile system which aim is to support sales representatives´ performance. The new system is called MatroX-Mobile. In order to maximize efficiency of sales representative´s visits to establish contacts with customers, collect orders, etc., we decided to implement a proved solution - MatroX-Sales -on small mobile computers, such as PDA (Portable Digital Assistant). The advantage that this solution provides is a complete independence of a sales representative in performing his/her actions on behalf of a company. Due to a continuous contact with the central data base, he/she is able to check the level of liabilities of the customers, stock level, take an order, create an invoice and also report to the HQ about exposition of merchandise or promotion materials on shelves in a sales point. There is also a possibility of instant printing of an invoice, receipt or a payment record.
The system’s functionalities can be divided according to two kinds of users: sales representatives and managers. As for sales representatives the system offers the following functionalities: Functionalities of the mobile part of the system (sales representative) - sales visits scheduling

- creating multidimensional reports based on data acquired by sale representatives

- geo-marketing visualization of sales representatives’ actions (possible thanks to the ‘maps’ module)
- extracting sales statistical data in a traditional form (tables) as well as in graphical one (graphs, sales coverage) thanks to the ‘maps’ module
- segmentation of customers according to given criteria
- information and statistical data about sale representatives work efficiency
The system is fully configurable (authorizations, new objects, definition ofnew functions, etc.) due to administration modules. The system is composed insuch a way, so that the function of an administrator could be handled by a non-ITspecialist (any of the company’s staff members can be in charge of thesystem’s administration after being trained). The application is designed in such a way that the navigation is intuitive and choice options are logically grouped, so doing job by sales representatives becomes organized, fast and easy. The main factor taken into consideration when designing this solution was efficiency of the system. Data bases of the system Users of the system can work on two data bases: a local and the central one. Local data based are placed on sales representatives mobile computers (PDA) and contain all data necessary for their work. In case if a sales representative needs to download some data or send it from his/her local data base to the company’s HQ, the synchronization mechanism is launched. (Synchronization process is data exchange between a local and the central data base). The synchronization process is of incremental character which means that only new data, which has not been in the system yet, is exchanged. Due to this characteristic the process runs fast and smooth, and sales representatives as well as HQ staff have access to the newest data. The central data base is located on a secured server in the company’s HQ. It can be accessed only by senior staff – company’s managers and analysts. They work directly on the data base, which means that they have constant and very fast access to all the data collected in the system. They are allowed to select data and decide what data is later shared with sales representatives as well as process it: make comparisons, reports for the board of directors, analyze it using specialized information tools.
